Dear Aunt Beth,
If Emily does not update her blog very soon, I will take over updating on Briley. I Love you!

Beaver Creek, Colorado
This post is a little late, but I wanted to post pics from our ski trip out to Colorado. Mitchell and I went with his parents, and it was one of the best vacations I have been on. It is was so pretty and relaxing! The first day of skiing I took lessons since it was my first ski trip. Mitchell and I agreed that it would be well worth the $175.00 to have someone else teach me in order to spare our marriage (something about him teaching me just didn't sound amusing--not even just a little bit). I spent the day with my Bolivian instructor, Valentino who couldn't not say Alyssa so proceeded to call me sweetie/sweetheart all day. I picked up the whole skiing thing pretty quick and didn't even fall the first day! I was so excited to show off my skills to Mitchell and his parents the next day. I did fall a few times but did pretty good. The views on the top of the mountain were breathtaking. There was nothing better than being up at the top looking out for miles and miles....then its gone in an instance after you see what you have to ski down to get back to the bottom for a cold beer or cup of hot chocolate (I chose a beer most of the time). By the third day, Mitchell and his Dad talked me into going down a huge blue slope (FYI...greens are what I prefer since I am a beginner). I had some not so nice feelings about those two on my way down, but they were both very encouraging and patient w/ me. I was so proud of myself to get to the bottom and look up to see what I had gone down. We ate at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant, Spago's one night and it was yummmmy! Mitchell is convinced we will move to Colorado one day. He absolutely loves it out there. FYI, I have the best inlaws in the world and we truly had a great time with them.

Worst Blogger of the Year Award Goes to...
Sorry it's been sooo last since our last post. It seems I am not very good at keeping this thing up. Again, I will try to post more often for those of you who actually check to see if we have (or have not) posted. Not much has happened since our last post. Lucy is getting so big and is almost a year. She weighs close to 60 pounds...she is just a sweet, big baby. I am still working on getting our house decorated to my satisfaction, as there is ALWAYS more I want to do. Here are some pics of what we've done so far. I still need to do our bedrooms, but the majority of it is done...for now.

Beach
We had a great time at the beach. (Today is our 1 year anniversary by the way...that's what the trip was for). Lucy was so good. When we first got there she was hesitant to get it elevator, but after one trip she got the hang of it. We took her down to the beach one afternoon and she loved it. She was a little skidish about the ocean but loved the sand. She pounched all in it and even tried to eat some. She was funny to watch. Maybe next trip she will actually get in the water to swim. She made friends with Jenny and Jeremy's (friends of ours) dog Traveler. Traveler is a 100 pound Great Pyrenees, and Lucy just loved him. Here are some pictures. There were quiet a few, so I just made a slideshow.

Vacation
Mitchell, Lucy and I will be on a much needed vacation. We are going to Gulf Shores for some relaxing beach time. I'm sure we will have lots of pictures to post when we get back. Oh, and Lucy got her stitches out this morning and can now get in the water. I can't wait to get her on the beach!

Lucy's Hysterectomy
Lucy was spayed yesterday. She is already 6 months old and 44 pounds. They kept her over night last night, and we were able to pick her up today. The vet was probably glad to have her gone, since we called all day yesterday to check on her. She is doing so well. She doesn't seem to be in any pain, but they did give us some medicine to give her if she needs it. She's just her happy, spunky little self.
Trying to keep her calm...hard to do.
Hopefully she won't pull her stitches out.

Loooooong Overdue...
It has obviously been awhile since I have posted on here. I got so excited about it at first and then was over it. But, by the request of my favorite and goofiest Aunt (Beth)--see her posts--I am going to attempt this again. I will try and be better about posting. Anyways, Lucy is now 33 pounds. She is a lanky little thing with long legs and a very active and spunky personality. We enrolled her in a puppy class 5 weeks ago, and she has learned sit, lay, stay, and down but we are still struggling with the walking on a leash (she is getting better though). This week she will graduate! HA! They acutally give them a graduate hat to wear! It's so cute! Today Mitchell and I took her to Oak Mountain State Park and hiked to the waterfall. She did surprisingly well walking on the leash. We then took her to the lake and she pounched all in it. She is scared to get too deep as she has not quite figured out the concept of swimming yet and seems to sink and panic. Here are a few pics of today...

Oh, and Mitchell and I are in the process of redoing our kitchen. I will post pictures after it's done!

So Blessed...
Lucy has now started sleeping through the night. She's been sleeping much better for a about a week now, and we are so thankful! Mitchell has her pooping and peeing schedule figured out. He has taught her how to sit, and he's working on teaching her how to lay. She's almost got that down. Now, if we can only teach her to stop biting me. She does pretty good with him, but as soon as I pick her up she starts knawing on me. Not sure what that's about. Anyways...we'll keep y'all posted! Happy New Year!

Too Good to be True?!
Well, Lucy slept through the night last night for the first time! It was so nice to get a full night's sleep. Mitchell seems to think that it probably won't last, but I have high hopes. She has gotten so much better with her crate and does not cry everytime we put her in. She's learned to go up and down the stairs and is working on learning to walk on a leash. She likes to walk herself and keeps the leash in her mouth while we walk. She's so cute!

Sleep??
Well, last night was much like our first night with Lucy. She woke us up every hour for the first few hours and then woke up for good around 4:45. Today was the first day she would be left at home by herself. It was so hard to leave her. I could hear her crying and barking as I was pulling out of the garage. Broke my heart! Mitchell came home around lunch to let her out and ended up spending his whole lunch break bathing her and cleaning her crate after she pooped and sat in it. Cute huh? She thought it was cute too...So cute that she decided to do it again for when I got home. So, we spent the afternoon cleaning her crate and bathing her...again. Despite our lack of sleep and poop duty, we are still so excited to have her!

Our New Addition
Mitchell and I have a new baby in our lives. We got a golden retriever puppy this weekend. Her name is Lucy Lu (LuLu) Weyandt and she is precious!! We brought her home yesterday and had a LONG night with her last night. She woke us up at 11:30, 4:00, and again at 6:00. She probably would have slept better if we had let her sleep in the bed with us, but we are crating her. We heard that was best, so we are trying it. It was so hard to hear her crying and barking at night, and I felt so guilty from taking her away from her brothers and sisters. The training book that Mitchell is reading said not to give in when she cries at night, but it was so hard. We did pretty good though; I wanted to put her in bed with us so bad! Today, she was so much more playful and puppy-like. She is just precious! We are hoping tonight goes a little better.

And it Begins...

Well, you have to start somewhere...
Mitchell and I were married on May 17, 2008 after dating for almost 8 years. Our wedding day was one of the happiest days of our lives. We were surrounded by our close family and friends and had a blast. We honeymooned in at the El Conquistador Resort in Las Croabas, Puerto Rico. It was the most beautiful place we have ever been to and hope to go back one day. We are now living in Hoover, Alabama. Mitchell is a Project Manager for Hoar Construction, and I am a registered nurse for a cardiologist at St. Vincent's hospital. Right now we are enjoying each other's company and living the newlywed life, although we are both still adjusting (thank god for separate sinks). We are looking for our first child, a female golden retriever puppy. We will keep you posted on the whereabouts of our little furry bundle of joy.
